Trains and stations hold a fascination for me, but especially steam trains. Perhaps it has something to do with being captivated by movies of a bygone era that featured steam trains alongside romance, excitement and murder mysteries. Also, the fact that steam trains significantly changed people’s lives when introduced in the early 1800s. There is something nostalgic about steam trains, too. I am glad I have had a few opportunities to ride them. With the world focusing on saving the environment, will working steam trains have their “lives” halted sooner rather than later? Despite my fascination with steam trains, I would love to one day ride a bullet train. The experience would be the entire opposite of chugging along on a steam train!
