A couple of days in Edinburgh was not enough to do justice to this pretty, hilly, yet walkable city. So, high on a short list was an afternoon at the famous Edinburgh Castle, perched on top of an extinct volcano. So much to see in its grounds, including taking in stunning views of the city. The Royal Mile in the Old Town was also a “must do” — its medieval architecture contrasting with the Georgian architecture of the New Town, where the Sir Walter Scott Gothic monument stands tall at 61 metres.
