Cumbria’s Lake District is one of the most beautiful places in England and famous for its lakes and lovely, mountainous countryside. I visited three of its 16 lakes: Windermere — the largest and most popular; Ambleside; and Grasmere — where William Wordsworth and his sister Dorothy lived in Dove Cottage, in Town End, for a period of time. The cottage is well worth a visit.
